Hundreds of people took to the streets for dead Sebastiaan

Banner

To share the grief, family organized a silent tour for friends and family. In the lead were two people carrying a large banner with a ladybug on it, the sign against senseless violence. Participants carried blue balloons and lights.

Hundreds of people stood along the course they were taking, many of them lit candles. They watched in silence as the journey passed before Sebastian. The tour took us through De Ververt residential area, where the victim lived, and past the scene of the collision.

When they arrived at the place where Sebastian died, many people placed flowers and candles. They lit Roman candles as a final tribute. A T-shirt and a flag of football club NEC hung under a canopy above the site. There was also a sign with the text meaningless, a reference to his nickname Loos. After about half an hour the tour was over.

“Wijchen is very moved by this incident,” said Mayor Marijke van Beek according to Omroep Gelderland prior to the trip. “The impact on the residents is enormous. That is why we, as a municipality, have decided to participate in this tour, taking into account the RIVM guidelines.”

Touches us deeply ‘

“This terrible news touches us deeply. Loos (Sebastian’s nickname ed.) Was only 42 and we already miss his energy and heart of gold,” write friends on the crowdfunding platform. “Our hearts go out to his wife Liv, his son Lyam and daughter Loïs.”

“We wish we could take some of their grief away,” they continue. “Besides love and strength, we wish them peace of mind and, above all, as little worries as possible. The loss is already big enough.” They hope to raise € 30,000.
