The Minister of the Interior, Walter Ortiz Acosta, during his speech in the Plenary Session of the Congress of the Republic, announced that his sector is promoting the exceptional graduation of five thousand new troops and 500 officers from police training schools, to intensify the fight against delinquency and organized crime.
“From here, I commit, together with the entire National Police and my administrative apparatus, to give all my effort and meet this challenge. I am a man of challenges, and I have always met them. I want citizens to trust the National Police and all authorities again,” he expressed.
Regarding the fight against drug trafficking, the Minister of the Interior pointed out that actions are being carried out within the framework of the National Anti-Drug Policy by 2030, whose objective is to reduce the production and illicit trade of narcotics.
He also specified that these measures include the eradication of illegal coca leaf crops in specific areas of the Ucayali, San Martín, Huánuco and Pasco regions. He highlighted that his sector has planned to destroy some 25 thousand hectares of these illicit crops this year.
Likewise, he reported that an operational plan is being executed that seeks to control the diversion of dried coca leaves used for the production of cocaine, destroy laboratories, dismantle clandestine airfields, seize drugs on air, land and sea routes, as well as investigate and dismantle organizations. criminals dedicated to this crime.
Finally, he assured that all criminal groups that divert controlled chemical inputs will be investigated and police presence will be increased in strategic areas such as roads, warehouses, and sea and land ports.
He added that, in order to reduce the duration of this state of emergency in certain areas of the country, the Interior sector has been supporting the National Police with human resources, logistical means and intelligence work.
