AKB48 Team TP is a Taiwanese female idol group with Japanese lyricist Yasushi Akimoto as the chief producer and music producer Chen Zihong as a consultant. It is one of the overseas sister groups of the Japanese idol group AKB48 and uses Taipei as its home venue.
The group was formerly known as TPE48. It was prepared in 2017 and officially debuted in February 2018. It was originally expected to debut in June 2018 but was later suspended for some reason. On July 30, 2018, AKS, the operating company of AKB48, announced that it would lift the authorization of TPE48 from the original operating company. After the contract, in addition to taking over the management and changing the group’s current name, they also established a company in Taiwan as an operating unit, and then debuted under the new group name on August 26 of the same year.
