Fürth – Hamburger SV stumbled from a Corona break after a goal in injury time with a draw at SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
The 2: 2 (1: 1) cost the Hanseatic team in the 2nd soccer Bundesliga two very valuable points in the fight for promotion. The team of coach Dieter Hecking, with 45 points, pushed the now tied VfB Stuttgart, who lost in Wiesbaden, from second place. Fürth’s double goal scorer Havard Nielsen annoyed the Hamburg with his powerful right-footed shot in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
The HSV was slow to reach operating temperature in the test game atmosphere of the empty Fürth stadium, but then put the 0: 1 away well by Nielsen (35th). Joel Pohjanpalo (41.) and Jeremy Dudziak (48.) turned the game around.
At first, HSV rarely acted purposefully in the forward gear. The Fürth let the ball run better. The gates to the break stand were almost congruent. First Maximilian Wittek flanked heavily from the left, Nielsen hit his head despite the reserve. HSV promptly replied: Tim Leibold’s cross on the second post also used center forward Joel Pohjanpalo with his forehead.
The 48th minute seemed to decide the game: Fürths Branimir Hrgota missed the goal with a great opportunity from 16 meters, in return Dudziak hit with a clever left-footed shot. The now better HSV then failed several times on Fürth goalkeeper Sascha Burchert, which should ultimately be revenged by Nielsen’s 2: 2.
