Sharing things like music was as easy as sitting side by side and putting on a headset. But as wireless headphones have become the norm, it may be worth getting several pairs of headphones.
If you have a newer iPhone, you can stream music and other sounds to two pairs of AirPods simultaneously. You’ll need an iPhone 8 or later, running iOS 13 or later, to set it up.
If you’re using an iPad, you’ll need one of the following devices:
- iPad Pro: 12.9 inches (2nd generation or later); 11 inch or 10.5 inch
- iPad Air: 3rd generation
- iPad mini: 5th generation
- iPad: 5th generation or later
How to connect two AirPods to one phone
1. Connect your first pair of headphones as usual, by placing the AirPods case near your phone, then opening the case and clicking Lien. Then follow the instructions and click on Fini When you are ready.
2. Swipe down from the top right corner of the screen and select the Casting icon in Control Center.

3. Under Headset already connected, select share the sound.

4. Hold the second AirPod case next to your phone, then open the case. Or if you have AirPods Max, just place them next to your device.
5. When you see your other (or your friend’s) headset appear on the screen, tap share the sound.
How to control the volume and pause or play
Once connected, you can control the volume as well as pause, play and pause the music you are listening to by going to your phone’s lock screen.
Each set of AirPods will have separate volume controls, so each listener can customize the levels to suit their needs.

How to stop sharing AirPods
1. Swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to open Control Center.
2. Select the diffuser Then select the check mark next to the headset you want to disconnect to stop sharing.
