How the corona virus changes prostitution – and what dangers lurk now

In times of corona crisis, many lines of business with limitations or complete standstill must immediately. Prostitution is not immune to this either.

Frankfurt am Main – The novel corona virus does not stop at the sex worker industry either. Brothels and playhouses were closed some time ago by official decision until further notice, many prostitutes then stand with their backs to the wall – and sometimes resort to drastic decisions.

No contact with clients and closed playhouses mean no income for many prostitutes and still costs for renting a room, although the women cannot earn money for an indefinite period.

Often there is also no home or a general place to sleep. After all, there are exceptions in some cases, so that the women can live in their actual study despite the fact that there is no operation.

However, since the Laufhäuser no longer represent competition, it can be seen, especially in the Bahnhofsviertel in Frankfurt am Main, that the business on the street line really explodes.

Because just because there is no longer an offer in the usual establishments, it does not mean that the demand has also declined accordingly.

And so the ladies go about their business on the street – despite the harsh controls and fines that come with it. Because street prostitution is prohibited by law in the Bahnhofsviertel. In addition, joy girls and suitors take many risks in the hunt for quick satisfaction or quick money.

The street line usually stands for unprotected sex – because where there is no legislation, there is no general requirement to exercise condom or other uniform regulations for the safest possible pay-sex.

The street is a dangerous place for women, especially in the station district, but also in general. Violence is omnipresent and it is not uncommon for street prostitutes to be victims of overly intrusive, shady characters.

But the temptation to serve a still large market and thus to improve your own assets is too great.

This also shows a statement by the operator of the brothel “Sex-Inn” in Frankfurt’s Taunusstrasse, Nadine Maletzki: “The street line that was there is now blossoming properly. There is no more competition from the Laufhaus”, said the 42nd -Year old versus Image newspaper.

It remains to be seen whether the contact bans that have been in effect across Germany since Sunday (TAG24 reported) will also largely turn off the streets.
