Javier Baez’s future with the Mets is uncertain. This is the least we can say about his situation. However, there is still a possibility that he will remain in New York after his current contract expires. The question is, at what price.
When traded by the Cubs in late July, Baez was unsure if he saw himself staying in the Big Apple for the long haul. Understandably, he was aware that once the campaign was over, he would have the opportunity to immerse himself in the free agent market.
He may only have 34 games with his new club, but his performances were enough to turn heads. We’re talking about an average of .306, nine home runs and 18 RBIs. Not to mention its OPS of .965, which is well above the national average (.730).
