German media reported on Saturday dramatic scenes in the city center of Dresden. Shortly after 12.30 the police declare that the situation is under control.

Police evacuated a shopping center and surrounding areas in the German city of Dresden on Saturday due to a possible hostage situation, writes the local police on its website.

– The hostage situation in Dresden is over. Two people were taken in, apparently unharmed, police wrote on Twitter at 12.44pm.

The local national broadcaster mdr writes that a woman and a child were taken hostage.

The German newspaper Bild writes that an armed man had killed a woman in the early morning, before attempting to attack the local radio station Radio Dresden.

After this, the man allegedly fled to a shopping center about a kilometer away. There he must have entered a room.

The Dpa news agency reports that the murdered woman was found on Saturday morning in an apartment. Her suspect is her son.

The local broadcaster MDR reports that the attacker fired and tried to enter the editorial office.

He is also said to have tried to get into the editorial staff of Radio Dresden, without success.
