Horror over death of dolphins in Florida

St. Petersburg. The alleged brutal killing of two dolphins on the Gulf Coast of Florida has raised animal rights activists. The US Meteorological and Oceanography Agency announced on Tuesday that a reward of $ 20,000 had been offered for tips on solving the case. Accordingly, a dead dolphin was found last week with gunshot or stab wounds. Wildlife conservationists also came across a dolphin on Pensacola Beach with a bullet stuck in the left side of the dolphin.

Experts suspected that the deaths could also be due to humans feeding the animals. Because as soon as dolphins learned to associate people and boats with food, the animals were exposed to dangerous situations. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Protection Commission warned the population not to feed dolphins in the wild.

Since 2002, at least 29 dolphins have been stranded, shot at with weapons, arrows, or pierced while spearfishing. In May 2019, a lifeless dolphin with a stab wound on the head was discovered off the island of Captiva in Florida. The investigation into his death is still ongoing.
