Hollywood stars want to buy football club – VG

This week it became known that Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney want to buy the club. It emerged after an extraordinary general meeting this week.

As many as 97.5 percent of the general meeting voted for further talks with the two actors.

– They show a great commitment. They have done a lot of research about the club, and are very geared and passionate, says club director Spencer Harris Sky Sports, and adds:

– They are very serious, very professional and have had great success with what they have done – both as actors and in the business world.

The acquisition of the club will cost the two profiles around NOK 25 million. The club is today owned by the fans.

And it is the fans the actors must now convince when they present their vision to the club, before the members will have a new vote during a new extraordinary general meeting.

But the club is already noticing the interest.

– It has completely taken off. We have people who want supporter equipment from Maryland, Toronto and Los Angeles, says Matt Jones, who works in the club’s supporter shop to Sky Sports.

The club has never played in the Premier League, but they have, among other things, reached the quarterfinals of the FA Cup three times. The club’s home ground, historic Racecourse Ground, is according to Guinness Book of Records the world’s oldest football stadium.

Why the two have taken an interest in the Welsh club is still unknown. The answer may be as Rob McElhenney responded on Twitter:

The American McElhenney is best known from the TV series “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, while American-Canadian Ryan Reynolds can be seen in the “Deadpool” films.
