Hoekstra attacks Wilders on the Graus issue in heated formation debate

Hoekstra wanted to know from Wilders whether he had let Graus know in a text message that he supported him in the matter. Graus is again accused of sexual harassment and abuse of power.

Hoekstra also called the PVV, which has no members, an ‘anti-democratic’ party. He also recalled Wilders’ earlier statements about the ‘fake parliament’.

‘Don’t play ball’

Wilders did not respond to the question about the text message. “It’s an internal matter, it’s none of your business.” The PVV leader believes that Hoekstra should account for the actions of the cabinet, for example when it comes to repatriating women who stayed in the consequence of the terrorist movement IS.

According to Wilders, ‘it will only get worse’ if two left-wing parties are in a coalition after the formation. Hoekstra thinks it’s ‘a scared’ response from Wilders. “You do not dare to respond to the text message, you do not dare to respond to the fake parliament, you do not dare to respond to the undemocratic content of your party. Your party is a big mess.”

Emotions in the debate – which focused on the progress of the formation – were already running high in the run-up to Hoekstra’s contribution. Wilders called GroenLinks MP Kauthar Bouchallikht ‘a Muslim extremist’ because of her previous ties with Femyso.

Reprimand for Wilders

According to experts, that organization has ties with the Muslim Brotherhood. His accusation resulted in Wilders being reprimanded by Chamber President Vera Bergkamp.

He then accused D66 leader and Foreign Minister Sigrid Kaag of sympathizing with terrorists, partly because as a minister she allegedly provided financial support to terrorist Palestinian organizations.

An enraged Kaag called the allegations ‘despicable’. “You don’t know what you’re doing with people’s integrity and lives. You’ll plummet in the polls, you don’t deserve it.” VVD leader Mark Rutte had already addressed Wilders about his comments earlier in the debate.

Geert Wilders show

GroenLinks leader Jesse Klaver called the statements about his party colleague Bouchallikht ‘unacceptable’. He believes that Wilders should first put things in order in his own faction in the Graus affair. Later in the debate, Klaver criticized Wilders’ ‘display’.

“This is not the big Geert Wilders show, who can debate the best, who is the most witty or who can be the most aggressive.”
