Education – Berlin – Berlin teachers and students should “train” ventilation – education

Berlin (dpa / bb) – Obviously not all teachers and students in Berlin schools know how to ventilate classrooms. You should now “train” the regular opening and closing of windows, as Education Senator Sandra Scheeres (SPD) announced on Friday. To this end, 3500 CO2 measuring devices are to be distributed to the schools, which the country can cost one million euros.

Ventilation is one of the most important measures in closed rooms to prevent the spread of the corona virus, explained Scheeres. “The CO2 measuring devices are a support to train the correct ventilation rhythm in the school learning groups. They show when the air has been used and thus provide important clues as to whether the previous procedure is already optimal.”

The requirements of the education administration for schools provide for classrooms to be completely ventilated for several minutes before and after the lesson and at least once in the middle of each lesson, also during breaks. Since it can get fresh in winter even in heated rooms, the students should wear warm clothing.

So-called air purifiers are under discussion so that school windows do not have to be constantly open during the cold season. After initial tests in some schools, the hygiene advisory board will now evaluate the results, said a spokeswoman for the education administration. Then experts from the Charité should check whether such systems make sense.
