It is still one of the greatest crimes in Swiss history. The plane crash that killed the village of Würenlingen almost 50 years ago claimed 47 lives. On a Saturday, February 21, 1970, shortly after noon, a Swissair Coronado crashed into the forest between the village and the PSI research institute. The Beznau nuclear power plant is just under a kilometer away.
The machine started in Zurich and was on its way to Tel Aviv. Würenlingen is not on the normal route. …
