Hispanic woman killed her mother in a home near Yankee Stadium: indictment in New York

Charlene Novoa, a 26-year-old girl, was arrested this morning and charged on suspicion of killing her mother Silma García during an argument inside a home in the Bronx (NYC).

Novoa was taken into custody at 2 a.m. Saturday and later charged with murder, the New York police said, without immediately disclosing the motive or time of her mother’s death. New York Post.

“It is under investigation. The daughter lived on the premises,” said an NYPD spokeswoman. Hours earlier, Garcia, 66, had been found dead in the late afternoon inside her apartment building in the Bronx, near Yankee Stadium in Concourse Village.

The woman was found lying face down, with two cuts on her forehead, inside 3125 Park Av. in the Morrisania neighborhood around 6:45 p.m., according to police. She was unconscious and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS paramedics. The autopsy is pending to make official the cause of her death.

Another daughter who did not live with Garcia called 911 and asked the NYPD to visit the apartment because she had not heard from her mother in a while, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the case said. Upon arrival, agents found Garcia and quickly located Novoa, he said. Daily News.

All charges are mere accusations and the persons prosecuted are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
