High Court Intervenes in Sabarimala Crowd Control: State Police Chief Ordered to Take Action

Kochi: The High Court intervened in the matter as devotees continue to crowd at Sabarimala. The Devaswom Bench of the High Court held a special sitting on the holiday. The High Court clarified that the state police chief should intervene directly to control the traffic.

Vehicles of devotees are blocked at Pala, Ponkunnam, Etumanur, Vaikom and Kanjirapally. The government had informed the court about this. The court directed to ensure that the devotees get enough food and water while blocking the vehicles.

The High Court said that facilities should be provided urgently for the detained devotees and there should be strict restrictions on the passage of those who arrive without any booking.

Over one lakh devotees will reach Sabarimala in the next two days. It is concluded that with the number of virtual queue bookings crossing ninety thousand and around ten thousand people arriving with spot bookings, there will be a huge rush.
