A total of 244 new cases of infection with the coronavirus (Covid-19) and 67 cures have been recorded in Morocco during the last 24 hours, announced this Saturday the ministry of health.
This new assessment brings to 11,877 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the first case reported on March 2 and to 8,723 the number of people fully recovered, representing a cure rate of 73.4%, said Hind Ezzine, head of the epidemic diseases service in the Epidemiology Department of the Ministry of Health.
The death toll stands at 220 after announcing two new deaths in the past 24 hours, she added, adding that the fatality rate has reached 1.9%.
The new cases are distributed between the regions of Casablanca-Settat, with 75 new infections (25 in Sidi Barnoussi, 30 in El Jadida, 16 in Casa and 4 in Berrchid), Marrakech-Safi (22 cases in Marrakech), Tangier -Tétouan-Al Hoceima (52: 10 in Tangier, 34 in Fahs Anjra and 8 in Tétouan), Fès-Meknès (23 in Fès), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (5: 3 in Kénitra, 2 in Sidi Kacem) , Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (62: 61 in Laayoune and 1 in Tarfaya), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (2 in Fkih Bensaleh), Guelmim-Oued Noun (1 in Sidi Ifni) and Dkhala-Oued Eddahab (2 ), she said.
However, the Oriental, Souss-Massa and Deraa-Tafilalet regions have not registered any new cases, she noted.
It also noted that 621,617 cases have been excluded following negative laboratory analyzes, stating that the number of active cases currently stands at 2,934, including 21 in serious or critical condition and representing risk factors (age and / or chronic disease).
The follow-up of contact subjects concerned 64,191 people, of whom 9,199 are still under surveillance, she added.
The manager called for more respect for individual and collective prevention measures and within professional circles, recalling to this effect preventive measures, in particular public health, constant hand washing, social distancing, barrier gestures , wearing the protective mask correctly, as well as downloading the “wiqaytna” application and using it wisely.
