World Bank: “Covid can drag 100 million people into poverty”
The covid-19 crisis could drag up to 100 million people into extreme poverty, against a previously estimated 60 million. This is the alarm raised by the president of the World Bank David Malpass. The number, he added, could increase if the pandemic escalates or continues. This makes it “imperative” for creditors to reduce the debts of poor countries, he explained, with an appeal that goes beyond the extension of the moratorium on the debt of those countries. Two thousand cases in Germany
