Here are the Leaked Details of the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ Camera Modules

Samsung’s flagship smartphone, which will be launched early next year, the Galaxy S22 series has become an interesting topic of discussion. The leaks have also graced the virtual world for the past few weeks, from the design to the camera.

Of course, coming as a flagship smartphone, Samsung will perfect the Galaxy S22 series from its predecessor. Reportedly, Samsung will still launch three models from this series, namely the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Now! Of course, the most awaited leak is the camera module of the Galaxy S22 series. And this time, it’s Ice Universe sharing with us the camera support that comes with the vanilla and plus models, both of which will use the same hardware.

It starts with a 50 MP sensor on the main camera, a 1/1.57” sensor with 1.0µm pixels and an f/1.8 aperture. This sounds like the Samsung GN5 and Sony IMX766 sensors. In comparison, the 12 MP main camera on the S21 and S21+ has a 1/1.76” sensor with 1.8µm pixels.

The S22 model is expected to use pixel binning, so at a resolution of 12.5 MP the effective pixel size is 2.0µm. Telephoto cameras will move from the current lossless digital zoom approach to a more traditional optical zoom with 3x magnification (f/2.4 aperture). It will be a 10 MP sensor with 1/3.94” optical format and 1.0µm pixels.

Joining that is a 12 MP sensor for the ultra-wide camera, measuring 1/2.55” with 1.4µm pixels and an f/2.2 aperture. It’s basically the same as on the S21 series. The selfie camera will also be the same as on the S21/S21+, meaning it will have a 10 MP (1/3.24″, 1.22µm) sensor with an f/2.2 aperture.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra’s camera has been detailed in a previous leak. In short, it has a 108 MP main camera (improved HM3 sensor), 12 MP ultra-wide, 10 MP 10x periscope, and a 10 MP 3x telephoto module (seems different from the S22/S22+ camera). The front camera is rumored to have a resolution of 40 MP, the same as the previous two Ultras.

Another leak states that Samsung will mix the Galaxy S22 with a 6.06-inch screen, while the S22+ screen will be larger, which is 6.55 inches. The Galaxy S22 will sport a flat panel display, just like the Galaxy S22+, while the model Ultra is expected to arrive with a curved display.
