Former Canadian Football League (CFL) quarterback Henry Burris has been hired as a coach by the Chicago Bears.
That’s what ESPN learned on Monday.
The 45-year-old will be responsible for quality control in attack.
Last summer, Burris got an internship with the Bears during their training camp. The formation of the NFL then retained his services as a “seasonal” coach.
The former quarterback played 18 seasons in the CFL, playing for the Calgary Stampeders, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Ottawa Rouge et Noir.
After his first four seasons on the Canadian Tour, Burris tried his luck in the NFL. He first spent some time with the Green Bay Packers, before donning the Bears uniform. In six games, including one start, with the Illinois club, he completed 18 of his 51 passes for gains of 207 yards and three touchdowns. He was also the victim of five interceptions.
He then returned to the CFL, where he played another 14 years. The former quarterback retired after the 2016 season.
