Specialists from the Institute of Francis Crick found new properties of interferon lambda, which was to resist the virus in the lungs. As it turned out, helping to fight infection protein includes the immune system, however, due to its properties of blocking the restoration of normal lung tissue. The latter occurs when the interferon lambda is in the patient’s body for a long time.
Impaired healing process is very dangerous for the body, because through wounds and damage can penetrate new viruses. As researchers found, if processing tissue interferon lambda, they stop growing. Recognizing the detrimental features of the protein, the researchers do not deny it is useful, activating natural immunity properties. However, in its present form the use of interferon lambda must be strictly adhering to the rules and balance, avoiding prolonged exposure to light.
