Heavy Traffic Congestion on A16 and A17 Motorways Due to Heinenoordtunnel Closure

It was already busy early this morning in the direction of Rotterdam on the A16 and A17 motorways. On the A17, between Zevenbergen and the Klaverpolder junction, there has been a traffic jam of about 8 kilometers for at least an hour and a half. At one point, the extra travel time was about 40 minutes, but by 7:30 AM it had dropped to 22 minutes. The ANWB had already warned about this delay. The crowds are related to the closure in both directions of the Heinenoordtunnel, under the Oude Maas.

For this reason, it has been queuing for some time on the A16, from Breda towards Rotterdam. Between Breda-Noord and Dordrecht, traffic jams are about 12 kilometers, with an average delay of 15 minutes.
