Heavy rains cause accidents and flooding in San Diego

2023 started with heavy rain, although much needed for Southern California, very dangerous for the streets and highways of San Diego.

(NOTICIAS YA).- 2023 started with heavy rain, although much needed for Southern California, very dangerous for the streets and highways of San Diego; causing havoc throughout the region.

Heavy rains this weekend caused flooding throughout the San Diego region, especially in the Kearny Mesa area, where at least 5 people were stranded between Lightwave and Ruffin streets.

One of the drivers escaped through the roof of his car along with his belongings, while authorities and a tow truck arrived to remove the cars trapped in the water.

But flooding wasn’t the only devastation from the storm, high speed and wet asphalt were factors in the record of at least two crashes on Highway 805, near National City. A woman was trapped inside her vehicle after she lost control, collided with a sign and overturned on the highway, although she had no visible injuries, she was taken to hospital.

Another motorist also lost control of his car and crashed into a tree. Both the man and his passenger sustained serious facial injuries and were taken to hospital.
