Police completed related investigation fire which scorched hundreds of Kios Lenggang stalls in the IRTI parking lot, Monas, Central Jakarta. The results of the investigation revealed that there was an element of intent that resulted in 204 stalls burned down that.
Initially, the fire that occurred on Thursday (31/3) at around 05.20 WIB was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. However, the results of the investigation revealed that the fire was caused by the man with the initials WST (29).
Police Name 1 Suspect
Central Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief AKBP Setyo Koes Heryanto said his party had named one suspect in the Lenggang Kiosk fire case. The suspect, the man with the initials WST is suspected on purpose set fire to a kiosk at IRTI Monas.
The determination of the suspect was carried out after investigators from the Central Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim conducted a case. From the results of the examination of witnesses and analysis of CCTV at the scene, the police named one suspect.
“We are confident, have fixed a WST suspect (29),” he said.
The Beginning of the Fire
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Central Jakarta Metro Police AKBP Wisnu Wardhana said the case began when the suspect WST and a man who owned a souvenir stall, DL, got into an argument.
“So Brother WST that night had a fight with DL,” said Wisnu at a press conference at the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Monday (4/4/2022).
Vishnu says WST is not a trader there. Initially WST came to Kios Lenggang to meet DL. However, the police did not explain further the reason WST came to see DL.
“Then WST looked for the person in question (DL),” explained Vishnu.
Before leaving, WST then set fire to the DL stall. At first, WST only intended to burn DL’s souvenir stall.
“Before leaving the location, the person concerned had set fire to the DL kiosk using a lighter,” he said.
