“In the last two years every month we have changed general practitioners”: to report the situation is Nicola Pini, municipal councilor of the Democratic Party, former district president in San Felice-San Savino. This is no small problem for an area that has been suffering from a lack of services of this type for some time, such as the absence of a pharmacy.
“The Municipality has worked hard for the neighborhood with extensive redevelopment and also social projects that have helped us a lot even during the lockdown” explains Pini. “On the other hand, however, we went on for two years without a regular doctor: the owner has health problems and they continued to send us temporary replacements, which change every few weeks”. Problem that seems to be solved in October, when a new owner should arrive. But the discomfort was considerable: when a doctor prescribes an examination for which another will then see the results, the situation can become complicated, because the continuity of care is lost.
That’s not all: “This neighborhood would need a community nurse to take care of vaccines or home care,” continues Pini. “Instead there is not even a pharmacy. We have a weak health network ”.
