Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Because of the spread of the corona virus, up to 80 refugees are temporarily accommodated in a youth hostel in Freiburg. The residents of the state initial reception facility (LEA) are to be protected as well as possible from infection, as announced by the regional council of Freiburg and the state association of the German Youth Hostel Association on Thursday. For the time being, families in particular should be accommodated in the youth hostel.
The youth hostel claims to make a contribution to the common good. It provides 53 rooms and meals. The regional council takes care of the refugees. A medical contact is also on site.
In the past week, several residents of the LEA had tested positive for the coronavirus. 177 people are currently housed there. As the facility has almost twice as many places, according to the information, the people could already be distributed beforehand. The current measure is intended to further rectify the situation. It is valid until April 21.
