Mainz / Ludwigshafen (dpa / lrs) – In Rhineland-Palatinate, an infection with the corona virus has now been detected in more than 40 people. According to the Ministry of Health, 29 cases were initially known on Wednesday morning. 13 additional cases were reported by the afternoon from the Rhein-Pfalz district as well as from the Bernkastel-Wittlich, Neuwied and Bad Kreuznach districts.
Among the diseases that have now been confirmed is a first corona case in the city of Ludwigshafen. “The man is already on the mend,” said the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis. Apparently he got infected while traveling abroad. The responsible health authority has therefore placed him under domestic quarantine. Two new confirmed cases were added in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district. The two young men probably got infected during a skiing holiday in Austria and are now isolated at home, said a district spokesman.
For people with symptoms such as cough, sore throat or fever, other fever clinics should be offered in addition to the existing contact points. The Ministry of Health said that preparations were underway at the Idar-Oberstein, Kaiserslautern and Ludwigshafen sites. There are already corresponding outpatient clinics in Ingelheim, Koblenz, Mayen, Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, Worms and Trier.
