Health and occupational risk insurance announced for workers from the Road Maintenance program

The Minister of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), Deligne Ascención, announced that this institution will provide, for the first time, health and occupational risk insurance to all workers who are part of the Road Maintenance Program.

Ascensión made the announcement during a meeting held at the Institution’s Recreational and Cultural Club with managers and coordinators of brigades of said program, and in which it assured there are no arrears in payments to these workers.

“We have not had problems regarding payments, we have paid every month that we have been here, however, when we arrived we found four months of delay in the payment of their wages, but we have been solving it month by month, even in December we paid for two months and as of today we are practically up to date ”, he said.

According to a press release, Ascención affirmed that for all those workers who are in the road maintenance brigades, who are not permanent employees and that the institution had never protected them through their corresponding medical insurance, “we are going to provide them with insurance via SeNaSa, so that your health situation is covered ”, and that the steps are being taken for an occupational risk insurance.

He expressed that Public Works, through the Road Maintenance Program, will also maintain a dynamic of generating and giving cash prizes to all the brigades that win it, “and to all the semi-annual personnel per area, which with parameters that we are going to establish will keep in better road conditions ”.

“You have the responsibility that these people feel proud of what they do, and above all that we can all feel proud to be part of the great family that represents the Ministry of Public Works and Communications,” he said.

Ascención thanked the men and women who every day make it possible for the MOPC to develop the work that is needed to maintain our avenues and our highways.

“You are the face of the Ministry, because it is the direct work of the institution that has a closer relationship with the citizenry, so I want to congratulate you, because the reports and information that every day reach me through the vice ministries, and there We see in which areas more work is being done, and which areas merit intervention, ”said the official.

For his part, the Vice Minister of Road Maintenance, Mélito Santana, said he was very grateful for the work that is being carried out on all highways, roads and avenues in the country.

“This is the commitment of Minister Deligne Ascención and President Luis Abinader, that all employees work and are rewarded for it,” he said.

Also participating in the activity were Pedro Mejía, assistant to the Vice Ministry of Road Maintenance; engineer Engels Mejía, person in charge of the General Directorate of Road Maintenance, among others.
