Politically motivated crime in Germany has doubled in ten years. Especially recently, something happened.
One Saturday evening in the small West German town of Idar-Oberstein: A 49-year-old man walked into a petrol station to buy some beer. In autumn 2021, there were strict corona restrictions in Germany. The gas station employee then refused to sell the 49-year-old beer unless he put on a mask.
The two argued and the customer left the shop. An hour later he returned with a mask and a firearm. He shot the 20-year-old employee in the head, killing him.
“A terrible climax,” said German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser. And you came up with figures that shook the idea of Germany as a stable locomotive of Europe.
