–Russian mathematics teaching is becoming increasingly popular. Now more than 100 Norwegian schools are looking for inspiration in the neighboring country in the east. Mathematics teacher Mikhail Gurov won the award as the teacher of the year in Russia 2021 because of his mathematics teaching.
Students in school uniforms get up to greet a teacher in a suit. The teacher goes through the distributed material and makes sure that everyone is involved in what is going to happen in today’s math class.
Then teacher Mikhail Gurov puts on clips from the American superhero Iron Man on a big screen in front of the board. It is the start of the lesson that later leads him to raise a pelican in a glass over his head to resounding applause. This was the math class that gave him the prestigious title “Teacher of the Year” in Russia.
