He murdered a senior with dozens of stab wounds and died in prison

When the 29-year-old Dunka died, Petra Kučerová, a spokeswoman for the General Directorate of the Prison Service, did not want to comment on “We cannot comment on specific persons,” she said.

Dunka defended himself at the Regional Court in Pilsen by saying that he was a schizophrenic, but experts ruled it out. The man appealed against the verdict on the spot to the High Court in Prague, which rejected his appeal as unfounded.

The murder took place in October 2018 in Pilsen. Dunka met a 71-year-old man in Těšínská Street, whom he stabbed because he was allegedly advised by voices in his head.

He then pulled the senior’s body a little further, buried the leaves, and threw his sweatshirt at him. Even before this act, Dunka managed to attack a fifty-four-year-old woman who was on a walk with a dog. He cut a knife into the back of his thigh and ran away.

The police arrested the man a day later in the Rokycany region, where he drew attention to himself by breaking a window in a farm building. He hid from the police with a golf club in his hand, which was then attacked by a policewoman who wanted to pacify him.

According to a regional court judge, there was no doubt about Dunk’s guilt. “But it was necessary to find out whether he was sane at the time of the crime, whether he suffered from mental illness or not. The experts agreed that he had no mental disorder. He suffers from toxic psychosis due to long-term use of addictive substances. “At the time of the crime, he was sane, he could control his actions,” the judge justified the exceptional punishment.

“He did the thing in a particularly brutal manner. The stab wounds were mostly in the head, so they had to be guided with considerable force. The victim died for a long time, which was very torturous, “the judge added.

The man was initially threatened with 18 years for murder, but the prosecutor demanded that the case be tightened because the act was committed in a particularly brutal manner, with the rate increasing to 20 years. The court granted the public prosecutor and sent the man to prison for 22 years and ordered protective psychiatric treatment in the institutional form.
