He defends the attack in court

The defender was about to submit his claim to the Oslo District Court when it was passed on to the aggrieved party in the case.

He got up, grabbed a bottle-like object, ran towards the defender and used it to strike him. Chairs and desks crashed around them.

– The behavior he displayed is obviously subject to any criticism. Such behavior should not take place, either outside or in a courtroom, the man’s lawyer tells Dagbladet.

The legal aid lawyer says he apologized for the client’s behavior to his fellow lawyer and to the court, and that he himself explained the incident to the police.

Process updated

One day was set aside for the trial, where a woman was accused of committing serious violence against the man who attacked the courthouse.

The public welfare attorney spoke with his client after the incident.

– He feels that over time he was exposed to such a sharp condemnation and discredit on the defender, which, unfortunately, eventually spilled over, he says.

Dagbladet has been in contact with the defender who was attacked in the courtroom. He does not wish to comment on the matter.

Communications adviser at the Oslo District Court, Markus Iestra, confirms to Dagbladet that the process in question has been interrupted by the incident.

It has been decided that the main hearing will continue next Monday.

Being investigated by the police

The Oslo District Court police were quickly called after the situation unfolded in the courtroom and eventually gained control of the victim.

He has now been sued for the affair. An interrogation was carried out at the scene and the case is under investigation, police inspector Trine Dyngeland Leiros from the Oslo police district told Dagbladet.

– It can be considered an attack both on public interests and on the defender as a private person. The police take this incident seriously, writes Leiros in an email.
