Have you finally managed to pick up signals from aliens?

In a study published in the scientific journal “Nature Astronomy”, has not claimed to have found definite signs of the existence of intelligent beings beyond our planet, as subsequent efforts to pick up the signals identified in the study again proved unsuccessful. True, the researchers say that artificial intelligence could be a promising aid in such studies.

“I have been pleasantly surprised at how well this technique works in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. I am sure that with the help of artificial intelligence, we will be able to better calculate the probability of signals from extraterrestrial civilizations,” commented one of the authors of the study.

The new technique incorporates machine learning technology, where artificial intelligence learns to distinguish between man-made signals on Earth and signals originating elsewhere. In this way, 150 terabytes of data collected by the Green Bank telescope in West Virginia were analyzed. A total of 820 stars relatively close to our planet were covered. It then turned its attention to eight stars between 30 and 90 light-years away, Science Alert reported.

Astronomers write that the signals from these stars are similar to signals that might have been produced by intelligent extraterrestrials. Of course, there is a possibility that the relevant signal characteristics were formed due to coincidence. To clarify this, further research of the signals would be necessary, which is no longer possible, since the signals were not recaptured.
