Harry and Meghan mess with Facebook: trouble for Mark Zuckerberg? – Royals

Does the Facebook boss have to prepare for even more?

After completing royal duties, Prince Harry (35) and Duchess Meghan (38) are happy to continue to support charities. And an initiative is likely to displease Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg.

Because Harry and Meghan want to stand up against discrimination and racism. Actually a good thing – show solidarity now with the “#StopHateforProfit” campaign. Facebook in turn takes it to her chest.

▶︎ The initiative aims to prevent companies from placing advertisements on Facebookuntil the multi-billion dollar social media network filters hate messages and the spread of fake news.

Facebook has repeatedly failed to act against hateful and racist content and misinformation, a Harry and Meghan confidant told “Harpers Bazaar“.

► This is fatal for Facebook: the network earns almost all of its money from advertising!

Specifically, it says that Harry and Meghan are now trying to encourage the bosses of numerous companies to no longer advertise on the network. According to several media the royal couple have already had talks with various companies.

More than 90 companies are currently participating in the advertising boycott

How Harry and Meghan have their fingers in the game is of course not known. As is well known, the two celebrities not only have a great deal of influence, but also many entrepreneurial friends who value the duo’s opinion.

The two “exile royals” also work with leading figures from the civil rights organizations NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), the “Color of Change” organization and the Anti-Defamation League. They all support the anti-Facebook campaign.

The NAACP thanked the couple for this. In a tweet, the organization’s chief, Derrick Johnson, wrote that both “embody the kind of leadership that is right now.”

Companies like Verizon, Unilever, Coca Cola and Ben & Jerry’s have already boycotted and stopped advertising.

By the way: Your current campaign against racism in the USA should be the reason why Harry and Meghan postponed the start of their own charity organization “Archewell” to 2021.

Perhaps it is also because the US Trademark and Patent Office recently rejected Harry and Meghan’s application to register the “Archewell” trademark. Reason: The information about the field of activity of your non-profit organization is too vague and imprecise …

▶ ︎ Facebook is repeatedly criticized for being used as a tool for hatred, baiting, discrimination and false reports.

For example, so-called “dark posts” caused great excitement in the US presidential election campaign in 2016. The Trump camp and supporters are said to have distributed advertisements, studded with false reports about the opponent Hillary Clinton (72). Due to their nature as “Dark Post”, the advertisements are only shown in the news feed of targeted users, not in the chronicle of the advertiser. And they just disappear after a while, which makes tracing very difficult.
