Harmony of water and colors. Vibrant works of art that awaken deep emotions

More than 50 artists have exhibited their vibrant works of art in the framework of the exhibition “Harmony of water and colors 2021”.

AZERTAC reports that more than 100 artists applied to participate in the project organized by IWS Azerbaijan (the representation of the International Watercolor Society (IWS Globe) in Azerbaijan), and the “IWS Baku Khatai Art Gallery” dependent on the “Khatai Art Center ”, With the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan and the State Art Gallery.

In his remarks, the director of the State Art Gallery Galib Gasimov, the secretary of the Union of Azerbaijani Artists Aghaali Ibrahimov, the art critic, the honored art worker of Azerbaijan Ziyadkhan Aliyev, the president of the IWS Azerbaijan Khasay Mirzoyev , the director of the Art Center “Khatai” Zahid Avazov highlighted the importance of the art of watercolor in the development of the creative capacities of young people.

Watercolor is a type of art that combines the properties of painting and graphics. This technique originated in ancient China with the invention of paper. European classical watercolor appeared in the 15th-16th centuries and flourished in England in the late 18th-19th century.

Today it is a very popular and relevant drawing technique; many eminent painters are passionate about it.

There are many known techniques for working with watercolors, and new effects and techniques are constantly emerging.

The colorful works of the young talents arouse great interest among the audience.

Founded in 2012, the International Watercolor Society has successfully integrated more than 100 branches around the world.

Through its activities focused on the promotion of watercolor, the society aims to promote brotherhood and peace. It also focuses on helping IWS branches develop affordable strategies to promote art and watercolor in their own countries.

In April, the International Watercolor Society (IWS) announced the winners of an art competition dedicated to Azerbaijan.

The project was jointly organized by the State Art Gallery, IWS Azerbaijan and the “Khatai” Art Center, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan.

The project aims to increase interest in graphic work and watercolor.

Graphic and watercolor painters were invited to display their patriotic artworks inspired by the bravery of the National Army. The works of the young artists did not leave anyone indifferent.

Among the winners of the watercolor contest were Hafiz Karimov, Fatma Kilich, and Feyzi Mammadov. For their part, Elmir Mammadov, Gunel Guliyeva and Abulfaz Farajoglu showed the best of their graphic art.

All winners received cash prizes. Special prizes were awarded to Khanlar Asadullayev, Gulshan Bakhshaliyeva, Naiba Valiyeva, Zeynab Yagubova and Leyla Vazehi. The winning works are kept in the fund of the “Khatai” Art Center.
