The Ministry of Transportation stated that the Airport Halim Perdanakusuma will be closed starting Wednesday, January 26 next. Flight activities were suspended for 3.5 months because there was a revitalization process at the airport.
“With the start of revitalization, Halim Airport will be temporarily closed starting January 26, 2022. The closing time is estimated at a maximum of 3.5 months,” said Transportation Ministry Spokesperson Adita Irawati quoting Antara, Friday (21/1).
Adita explained that the revitalization of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport was carried out as a follow-up to Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 9 of 2022.
Revitalization includes improvements to land and air side facilities, in order to improve aspects of flight safety, security and comfort.
“We inform you of the temporary closure of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport early so that all relevant parties are ready to take steps to handle and impact from the closure,” he said.
Adita then appealed to the public who had bought plane tickets to immediately contact the relevant airline.
The Directorate General of Air Transportation, Ministry of Transportation has coordinated with airport operators and all airlines to handle flight cancellations, ticket refunds, flight route changes, and so on.
“We also urge people who have purchased plane tickets with departures through Halim Airport to contact the airline so that the next handling process will be carried out,” said Adita.
Revitalization at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport is in the form of development on the air side and land side, which includes the restoration of the runway and taxiway, increasing the parking capacity of the Naratetama and Naratama aircraft.
Then the renovation of the Naratetama and Naratama buildings; renovation of operating buildings; improvement of the drainage system within the airport; and arrangement of other facilities.
