On Wednesday August 26, 2020 at 11 a.m., psychologist Morgane Nauwelaers was killed by a gunshot to the head, in the waiting room of her office.

Drama and amazement are still present in Annecy’s memories. On Wednesday August 26, 2020 at 11 a.m., psychologist Morgane Nauwelaers, 33, was killed by a gunshot to the head, in the waiting room of her office, at 68 rue Carnot. Presumed innocent, Albert Blanc, a 77-year-old retired Chambéry in pre-trial detention since the facts, answers for his assassination before the Assize Court of Haute-Savoie this Tuesday.

The pedophile who didn’t want to be exposed?

Since the events, the man has always denied having wanted to kill Morgane Nauwelaers.

If he had been preparing for his visit for several days, it was to scare her and dissuade her from reporting acts of sexual touching that the accused allegedly committed on his daughter (Morgane Nauwelaers’ patient) and his granddaughter, aged 13 years old. Blanc will then say in the hearing that he wanted to steal the shrink’s computer to erase the traces of his daughter’s file.

The investigation showed that Morgane Nauwelaers had reported the alleged touching the day before, in worrying information. For these alleged facts, of a pedophile nature, he will be tried in September at the Chambéry court.

The inquest into the shrink’s death reports that the accused may have thought he was going to shoot if he couldn’t convince.

The pedophile, who suffers from a very serious personality disorder according to experts, was cold and remorseless after the tragedy and admitted to having shot voluntarily, because the victim had fled. Still presumed innocent, he faces life imprisonment for assassination (premeditated murder) and will have to be convincing before the Assize Court of Haute-Savoie, if he wants to avoid the maximum sentence.

A carefully prepared scenario

The day of the tragedy, shortly after 8 a.m., the septuagenarian took his breakfast as he was used to, with his wife, at his home in the heights of Chambéry.

He tells the latter, who knows nothing of the terrible family secret and the tragedy that is about to occur, to go and carry out work in the dwellings he owns. In reality, Albert Blanc hides his phone in the toilets of the studio under construction, before taking the direction of a vehicle rental agency. Agency in which he had, the day before, reserved a car.

Albert Blanc transfers from his personal vehicle and into the rented Clio, a bag containing a rifle whose barrel and butt he took care to saw off, two license plates that he stole from Seynod 5 days earlier, some white spirit to take off the adhesive that must be used to fix the plates, a cloth to use the thinner and a rusty opinel to take off the plates. Albert Blanc has also provided a cap and transparent disposable gloves.

The pensioner then takes the direction of Annecy. Halfway, he installs the false plates and ends his journey in the parking lot of the Courier shopping center, having taken the precaution not to take the highway.

Albert Blanc goes to the office of Morgane Nauwelaers and her husband Louis François. He spotted the place, making an appointment under a false identity, to be explained how to enter the building and access the office. An appointment that he finally canceled. Albert Blanc had also gone to the door of the first floor, the Friday before the crime, with his wife’s car.

While Morgane Nauwelaers was going to receive the patient with whom she has an appointment at 11 a.m.: the accused allegedly claimed to want to make an appointment with her. Morgane Nauwelaers installs her patient in consultation, comes out with a block and a pen. Without a real conversation taking place, the patient will hear her shrink shouting: “No! and the gunshot goes off. The psychologist has just received in the head, a discharge of 12 gauge pellets that the accused had hidden in the beach bag.

Louis François, in consultation in the next room, immediately leaves his office and discovers his wife on the ground, hit in the head by the gunshot, but still breathing. He pursues his assailant, catches him on the half landing and succeeds in disarming him. The husband and associate of the victim then struck two shots with the butt of a rifle, causing a wound of 3 centimeters on the scalp of Albert Blanc who fled towards the Courier car park.

Pursued and caught by witnesses, he was finally arrested by the police at the automatic pay station in the car park and immediately recognized that he was the shooter. Since arriving at the parking lot, 10 minutes have passed. In a desperate state, Morgane Nauwelaers was declared dead after being transported to hospital.

The will to kill?

Declared responsible for his actions, Albert Blanc will have to explain why he fired ” without thinking “ while his “anger had been simmering for some time” and that the family was on the verge of implosion: the facts of touching his daughter and his granddaughter (for 5 years) were going to be revealed.

Unless he wallows in denial, as his correspondence from prison suggests; from where he writes to his sister “Someone had to go get mud where there was none. […] I could not bear this aggression which would have affected the people I love. […] Things went wrong and in a moment of confusion and panic the shot went off and the person was seriously injured. »

We can already imagine the public prosecutor worrying about a lack of perception of reality on the part of the accused and making the link with the testimonies of the parking lot which speak of a man “Not disoriented, lucid, not shocked, not troubled, not distraught. »

Just before the start of the trial: to the question of whether Albert Blanc had planned to kill Morgane Nauwelaers, the only one to have this answer, incontestably, is Albert Blanc.

Beautiful people under the dresses

The trial should last 3 days, and the verdict is expected this Thursday, June 23 in the evening. The Assize Court of Haute-Savoie will be chaired by François-Xavier Manteaux, a name now well known to the general public since the Lelandais trial.

The public prosecutor will be represented by the public prosecutor of Annecy Line Bonnet.

Albert Blanc will be defended by Grenoble lawyer Pierre Donguy.

On the civil party side, Louis François and his son are represented by Marjorie Berruex; the beautiful family of Morgane Nauwelaers by the president Anne Delzant; the patient(s) who witnessed the crime by the former President Patricia Lyonnaz.
