Guy Van Sande acquitted for succeeding ex-partner of v …

The Antwerp criminal court acquitted former actor Guy Van Sande (57) from Edegem for using violence against the then partner of real estate agent Louis C. (61). The latter was sentenced to seven years in prison for human trafficking and rape and was immediately arrested.

Both men, who were previously politically active in Edegem, were on holiday in France with their partners in August 2015. A quarrel then arose between Louis C. and his girlfriend, the latter taking a knife. Van Sande had disarmed her with an arm clamp. He said he learned it on the set of the TV series ‘Zone City’. When handling the case, he had also applied the arm clamp to his lawyer to show the court that he had done absolutely no harm to the woman.

The court found it not implausible that Van Sande had only intervened in the quarrel to immobilize the woman. The arm clamp had been a proportional response to the knife threat. The former actor was therefore acquitted.

Louis C. was found guilty: he was convicted not only of the blows he had inflicted on his girlfriend at the time, but also of having exploited her and four other women as prostitutes. The court also found it proven that he had raped three of them.

Van Sande was last year after a much-discussed process guilty found possession, distribution and production of child pornography. VTM and VRT decided to do this no more repetitions to broadcast the series in which he played a leading role.
