Guy (C8) – Alex Lutz : “Michel Drucker m’a bluffé !”

How did you imagine this story?

Alex Lutz : After directing my first feature film, The talent of my friends, in 2015, everyone had lots of ideas for me for my second film. I was told to do a comedy, a drama, a romantic comedy… In fact, the only one who had no ideas was me! I thought that a documentary could be interesting, because it can be watched like a good movie at the cinema. Then I said to myself that I was going to create a mockumentary about a nightclub, which had never existed. Eventually I decided to shoot it on a character that would be a popular singer.

You are extremely credible in this role of singer. Do you like giving voice?

Reasonably, in the shower… On the other hand, this character gives me legitimacy to sing. So I have less difficulty than if I had to do it on stage where I would have a kind of modesty that would put a little filter.

This man you embody is both touching and caustic. Why this bias?

I don’t like comedy to be only funny, just like I don’t like drama to be dramatic all the time. I tend to say that during a funeral, there is always a giggle, because the priest breaks the figure.
