New York – Hurricane alert on the US east coast: New York is also preparing for Hurricane Henri. It should possibly meet the metropolis on Sunday morning (local time).
Authorities in the US states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont called on the population to prepare for Henri. In Massachusetts, parks and beaches are said to be closed Saturday through Monday.

The tropical storm Henri is likely to become a hurricane on Saturday, announced the US Hurricane Center (NHC). The US weather services warn: Henri is likely to hit land on Sunday in Long Island or southern New England.

According to the NHC, Henri reaches wind speeds of 110 kilometers per hour. Heavy rains were expected in New York and adjacent New England. Storm surges of up to 1.5 meters are expected.
