Great first in England, where football and its public had been spared from measures to prevent the spread of the
coronavirus. The football club of
Manchester City announced on Wednesday the postponement of the championship match against
Arsenal scheduled for the evening. The cause is a possible contamination among the Gunners after the Europa League match against Olympiacos, whose president Evangelos Marinakis has been declared positive for the virus.
“The decision to postpone the match tonight was taken as a precaution and on the advice of doctors, after it was revealed that Arsenal staff members were in contact with the shareholder of Olympiacos, Evangelos Marinakis, declared positive for Covid-19, “said the English champion in a statement.

Arsenal said in a statement that “a number of players”, unspecified, were placed in quarantine at their home for 14 days, as well as “four members of management.” The postponement is due to the unavailability of these players, which handicapped a team struggling to get out of the middle of the table (9th to five points from the fifth, Manchester United).
Everyone must be out of quarantine Friday to prepare for the next meeting in Brighton the next day. And the risk of them getting sick is “extremely low,” the London club said in a statement.
Instructions followed to the letter
“However, we are following government guidelines to the letter which recommend that anyone who comes into contact with someone infected with coronavirus should be isolated at home for 14 days,” he added.
Arsenal was eliminated from the Europa League by Olympiakos in late February. After which, Evangelos Marinakis, owner of Olympiacos and the English club Nottingham Forest, announced Tuesday that he had been infected with the coronavirus. No details have been given on when this Premier League shock could play out.
