Jakarta

A man carried out shootings in two separate locations in Rotterdam, Dutch. Two people were reported killed in this incident.

Reported by AFP, Friday (29/9/2023) a 32 year old gunman opened fire at a house and hospital in Rotterdam. Apart from the two people who died, one teenager is reportedly critical.

Police Dutch said that his party was still investigating the motive for the attack carried out by the man in combat clothing. Apart from that, the perpetrator is also said to have set fire to the hospital.

Police chief Fred Westerbeke said the man first stormed into a house in the Dutch port city and opened fire, killing a 39-year-old woman and seriously injuring her 14-year-old daughter.

He then moved to a classroom at Erasmus MC hospital, shooting dead a 46-year-old teacher before starting a fire, sparking panic.

Police stormed the hospital, as panicked medics exited the building pushing patients in wheelchairs and stretchers.

“First there was shooting on the fourth floor. Four or five shots were fired. Then Molotov cocktails were thrown at the education center,” said a medical student quoted by RTL Nieuws, who did not give his name.

“There was a lot of panic and screaming… I didn’t hear any gunshots, just panic and that’s what I started to act,” public broadcaster NOS quoted another eyewitness as saying.

Images showed helicopters buzzing overhead and police snipers taking up positions on the hospital roof.
