The actress in question is Sarah Drew, better known as April Kepner. He is not just any character: he joined Grey’s Anatomy during the sixth season and was fired at the end of the fourteenth after 202 episodes in the cast. The last time we saw her, she married Matthew in a rugged ceremony and left her job to work for the homeless in the city of Seattle.
Her return draws attention because she did not choose to leave Grey’s Anatomy. The producers of the series considered that April had had enough travel in the medical series and that the character did not give more of himself. So they did not renew his contract and expelled the mother of Jackson’s daughter Avery (Jesse Williams) at the same time that they also fired actress Jessica Capshaw, who played Arizona Robbins.
