Grégory Doucet largely in the lead

The environmental candidate Grégory Doucet (left union) harvests 52,6% votes. He far ahead of the candidate LR Yann Cucherat (29.7% of the votes). Georges Képénékian (dissident LaREM) received 17.7% of the vote.

During the first round on March 15, Grégory Doucet (EELV) obtained 28.46% of the votes. He thus outstripped the candidate Les Républicains Étienne Blanc who had obtained 17.01% of the votes cast, Yann Cucherat (LR) with 14.92% as well as George Képénékian (dissident LaREM) and his 11.98%.

In the previous election in 2014, Gérard Collomb (PS) won for the third time with 50.65% of the vote from the first round. He thus distanced Michel Havard (UMP, 34.23%) and Christophe Boudot (FN, 10.34%). For this second round Étienne Blanc ranked behind the LaREM candidate Yann Cucherat.

Lyon, traditionally bourgeois tends to vote right in the municipalities and districts of North and North-West, while the municipalities of South and East are rather turned to the left. Gerard Collomb (PS) has been at the head of the city since 2001 and became mayor for the first time when he was a minority in the number of votes but the majority in the number of districts won.

Lyon is the prefecture of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The city has some 516,000 Lyonnais, while its metropolitan area has about 2,326,230 inhabitants.
