Graudiņa/Samoilova wins the “Challenge” series tournament

The second-seeded Latvian duo was superior in the final with 2-0 (21:18, 21:17) over Canadian athletes Heather Benslija and Sofija Bukovecs (18th), who overcame the qualification.

The victory in the tournament gave 800 ranking points.

In the first match of the group tournament, the Latvian duet beat Brazilian beach volleyball players Andres Cavalcanti Ramalja and Tainar Feitos de Oliveira (23rd) with 2-0 (21:15, 21:17), but in the fight for first place in the group with 2-0 (21: 12, 21:16) – Lithuanians Moniku Paulikieni and Aina Raupelīti (14th).

In the round of 16, the Latvians beat the French Lezana Plasset and Alexia Richar (7th) with 2-1 (21:18, 18:21, 15:11), and in the quarter-final with 2-1 (24:26, 21:14, 15:10) defeated Dorina and Ronja Klinger from Austria, who were seeded 15th in the competition.

In the semi-finals, Graudiņa and Samoilova won 2-1 (18:21, 21:15, 15:9) over the previously defeated Lithuanians Paulikieni and Raupelīti.

In the men’s competition in Recife, Aleksandrs and Mihails Samoilov suffered two losses on Friday and finished tied for 19th place, earning 300 world ranking points.

In the “Pro Beach Tour” ranking, the first is the “Elite 16” competition, the second – “Challenge”, the third – the “Futures” competition.
