A tender has been announced for the design and construction of two historical buildings of Stradiņa Hospital

It is planned that as a result of the design and construction of the buildings, patients will be provided with comprehensive treatment options within the boundaries of one medical institution. The hospital invites applicants to submit an offer by April 9, 2024.

PSKUS board chairman Lauris Vidzis says that by rebuilding and renovating the 24th building, it is planned to develop the possibilities of receiving palliative care, medical services for patients with chronic diseases, as well as geriatric services – care and treatment of seniors.

On the other hand, in the 25th building, it is planned to develop rehabilitation services for outpatients, day inpatients and inpatients. The reconstruction and renovation of this building will create an opportunity to create a special Pain Medicine Center, including pain medicine as an essential part of integrated health care, which will improve the quality of life of patients and reduce the risks of complications, says Vidzis.

It is expected that all premises will be functionally re-planned and their condition will be significantly improved in accordance with the epidemiological and environmental accessibility requirements. The flow of outpatient and inpatient patients will be separated, as well as the risks of infection will be reduced.

The investments are financed with the support of the Recovery Fund in the amount of 30,614,244 euros. The Recovery Fund is a new budget program of the European Commission, created in addition to the multi-year budget of the European Union for the 2021-2027 planning period. The purpose of the recovery fund is to reduce the long-term social and economic impact of the Covid-19 crisis, as well as to support reforms and investments related to the transition of EU member states to a green and digital economy.
