Grain-negative Covid-19 test gives hope to play in European Championship The news

Riga, Sept. 6, LETA. However, Latvian beach volleyball players Tīna Graudiņa and Anastasija Kravčenoka have not completely lost hope of playing in the European Championship, because Graudiņa’s second Covid-19 test is negative, LETA agency found out.

Earlier it was reported that due to Graudiņa’s positive Covid-19 test, he and Kravčenok will not be able to defend the title of European champion next weekend. Covid-19 analyzes received on Friday turned out to be positive for Graudiņa, however, on Sunday he announced on the social site “Instagram” that the next test is negative.

“Probably your wishes have worked, because the test passed again yesterday is negative. Hopefully, the test passed tomorrow will also be negative,” Graudiņa writes, adding that the test is also negative for the other four members of her family.

As Kaspars Timermanis, a member of the board of the Latvian Volleyball Federation (LVF), explained to LETA, after such news, the door to the European Championship for volleyball players is not completely closed.

“On Friday night, there was a long conversation with the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV), which wants Tina and Nasty to play in the European Championship. If she has another negative test, the only question is how fast they can return to training and play. We can’t question the results of the first test yet, but Tina feels good and all family members have negative tests. opportunities, whether and how they could play in the European Championship, “said Timermanis.

LVF informed on Friday that the athlete’s partner Kravčenoka and their coach Andris Krūmiņš, who have also performed tests and have been closely related to Graudiņš in the training process, have negative Covid-19 analysis results. However, as these people are recognized as direct contacts, they should also observe two weeks of self-isolation, monitor their health and have the test repeated.

LVF is currently working closely with the epidemiologists of the Centers for Disease Control (SPKC), has clarified all currently available information and identified risks. SPKC identifies all direct contact persons who have been in contact with Graudiņa since August 29. Persons who have been in close contact with him for more than 15 minutes are considered direct.

In view of the above, the lottery event of the European Championship on August 26 and the event of 100+ friends for volleyball organized by LVF are not considered to be included in the risk group. Kravčenoka, coach Krūmiņš and Graudiņa family members have been recognized as direct contacts. Other visitors to the above events should, according to the SPKC, monitor their health and, if symptoms appear, perform tests. Visitors to these events are not required to take any other preventive action.

LVF emphasizes that the safety of visitors and athletes is a priority of the European Beach Volleyball Championship. In order to avoid cases during the planned championship, a special Covid-19 risk prevention team has been established, which has been working with representatives of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) for more than a month to implement various measures and procedures and prevent potential risks. LVF also informs that players and spectators must take into account that the requirements will be very strict and will exceed the limits set by the state much more.
