The Governor of Puerto Rico, Wanda Vázquez Garced, regretted the death of Dr. Víctor de Jesús Díaz, who died from the new coronavirus.
Dr. De Jesús Díaz is the first doctor to die of COVID-19 on the island.
The first executive regretted the death of the doctor in a publication on Twitter.
“We regret the news that one of our heroes has passed away, my condolences to the family of Dr. Víctor de Jesús Díaz. This virus does not discriminate and we must make every effort to keep our defense line protected. Let us help by staying in our homes “said Vázquez Garced.

At the same time, the mayor of San Lorenzo, José “Joe” Román Abreu, also expressed his sorrow for the doctor’s death.
“Today, Dr. Víctor De Jesús Díaz is marching to meet Eternal Glory. His departure occurs in the context of the fight against the terrible evil of the pandemic that plagues us. Example of sacrifice and self-denial, he honored his oath to seek welfare of his patients under all circumstances, “said the municipal executive.
Dr. De Jesús Díaz, a pediatrician, was one of 12 doctors who remained infected with the new disease, according to the president of the College of Surgeons of Puerto Rico, Dr. Victor Ramos. At the same time, 53 nurses have also tested positive for the new coronavirus.
