Government of India donates medicines for patients with epilepsy problems – Publinews – 2024-03-17 11:25:40

The Government of the Republic of India made a donation to the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance of Guatemala (MSPAS) this consisted of a series of medications for patients with epilepsy problems, bipolar disorders and diseases related to diabetes.

The donation, which was received by the Minister of Public Health and Social Assistance Oscar Cordón, is valued at Q94,239. It consists of 500,000 500 mg tablets and suspension of Valproic Acid; 270,000 50 mg tablets of Pyridoxine; and 500 thousand 850 mg tablets of Metformin Hydrochloride.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance and the Government of Guatemala, we want to thank the ambassador and the Embassy officials for their presence, especially for this donation of treatments that will be used in patients with problems such as epilepsy, bipolar disorders and disorders related to diabetes,” Cordón pointed out.

The minister of the portfolio indicated that the team works hard on a prevention campaign for the obesity problem, which is the first step to eventually developing diabetes.

“We are also in the process of developing a national mental health needs assessment, for which this treatment will be very helpful. The intention is to strengthen this alliance for various plans and projects,” said Cordón.

For his part, the Ambassador of India, Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, said he was satisfied that his government can contribute to the health of the Guatemalan population, since “India produces more than 25% of the world’s medicine, which is reflected in Guatemala where, Approximately, 20-30% of medicines come from India. “We are happy to work hand in hand with the ministry,” he said.
