Today a Warner Media executive confirmed that the HBO Max app and website will be completely remade from scratch.

The statement was given by a senior executive at Warner Media in an interview with Vulture, who said the problems found in the HBO Max app are expected to be resolved in the coming days.
In addition, the executive also stated that an app and a website entirely built from scratch should be launched in the coming months:
We will replace all connected TV apps in the next four or five months. It will be extremely better than the current one and will have a sophisticated, cool and sexy interface.

What went wrong?
In the interview, the representative of Warner Media explained some of the reasons for the problems found in the HBO Max application. ad support in a cheaper version of the service, which was recently introduced on the platform after it launched in 39 countries.
Another factor that caused the problems was the fact that HBO Max is an app adapted from HBO Go and HBO Now, so it wasn’t created from scratch like Netflix’s, which presents a much superior experience.

The first systems to receive the new application will be Roku and PlayStation, while Apple TV users will have to wait until the end of this year. Apps for Android, iOS and the new website should be launched in early 2022.
