Good Friday is the last Friday of Great Lent before Easter. For religious people, this day is considered a day of mourning, as it symbolizes the suffering of Jesus, who was crucified on the cross.

For believers, Good Friday is the most sorrowful day of Holy Week. Easter comes two days after it. On Good Friday, Christians remember the suffering of Jesus Christ, his removal from the cross and his burial.

What not to do:

In Galicia, the bells are silenced on Good Friday
Believers do not eat anything on this day until the shroud is taken from the altar to the middle of the church
Lunch on Good Friday is fasting, even fish cannot be eaten on this day
You can neither sew, nor spin, nor chop firewood
You can’t sing and have fun on Good Friday

What to do on Good Friday:

Housewives usually bake paska on this day
After the Friday service, it is customary to bring to the house twelve burning candles, with which they stood in the church
Candles should be placed in the house and let them burn down to the end
All Easter preparations (such as cleaning) must be completed on Maundy Thursday.
